You may remember that we recently participated in the silent auction for Baby Molly (who is doing great!). Jessy and Lucky came out for the good cause and they were the winning bidders of our photo session! So last week, before the city was covered in snow, we met up with them in a gorgeous Garry Oak grove to record some memories of Jessy’s beautiful baby belly before their wee one joins us. I recognized Lucky right away but couldn’t place where I knew him until we got talking and realized we were at UVic together as history undergrads, oh so long ago. I spent many a school night at Steamers Pub listening to his band Lift. That feels like forever ago – when we were all so young, Lucky had long hair, and Steamers was still here. How life changes for us all – now it is a home based business with book publications, radio shows on CBC, dogs, houses, and the soon to arrive baby. We could just see how excited these two are about this next change in their life. They are calm, happy, and ready to be three. Thanks so much to Jessy and Lucky for spending such a great winter morning with us as we preserved the memory of this time. We are excited to meet your little one… whenever they decide to arrive.

This August while we were in the Okanagan for Katie and Tyson’s wedding we were able to squeeze in a sweet little session with one of our favourite families. We first photographed Ben and Lisa on their wedding day and since then we have captured Lisa’s baby belly, little baby Oliver and gorgeous Bella, and now we were so happy to meet sweet little Layla Grace. It is a really special thing to be able to watch a family grow right before you and to be the ones that record all the big moments – I think they may be our most photographed family and you can find them all over our website. It was a really warm summer day and my mom’s yard (lovely mama of Em
) is really like the perfect outdoor studio including amazing props! My mom likes to have old things in her garden among the vines and flowers and this old blue pram was perfect for Layla. Welcome to the world little Layla we are so happy to have met you!

Fall is so gorgeous and colourful so why not have story time with Grandma and Grandpa in a cornfield and a little playtime in a pumpkin patch that is just for you. We watched the birds, explored the pumpkins, chased Zoey as she tried to move around as fast as possible without tipping over on uneven ground dressed in pumpkin vines, we laughed when Lucy pointed with her little finger and reported in her own little language that Zoey was no longer sitting on her pumpkin, and we watched the looming clouds and hoped it wouldn’t rain on this day we were all so excited for. It was a perfect little session with these two little twin pumpkins and so worth the wait. Can’t wait to see you again!

A little while ago on one of our first warm summer evenings we met up with James and his Grandma Helga in the park for a mini session. Helga also brought her very sweet pup named Sophie to join in with us. Knowing that we would be shooting a Grandma and Grandson it got us thinking about grandparents. My Grandpa was a pilot when he was young and is in love with airplanes. There are photographs of him as a child with his balsa gliders and when I was a child there are photographs of him and I, at the little airstrip near their summer home in Beachburg Ont., with his remote control airplanes and balsa gliders. Aaron has taken to these little gliders and at one point I had to reclaim the china cabinet, to make room for actual china, as he had turned it into a hanger for balsa gliders, bi-planes, elastic wind-up prop planes and more. Sitting to have your photograph taken may not be the thrill of a second grader’s evening so we thought we would make it more fun by bringing along a little memory of mine and a new hobby of Aaron’s. Helga and James have a special little bond that you can just feel when you are around them. Helga moved out here when James was wee to be able to be a bigger part of his life. Along with her came James’ little sidekick Sophie. We followed them around the grassy oak meadow as they tossed the glider, played in the grass, and laughed with each other. Their little ways of being together were so sweet to watch and we had such a great time chasing around behind them with our cameras. Thank you so much James and Helga for sharing your sunny afternoon of new memories with us.

Nic and Erin are getting married this May and we recently went out to shoot their engagement session with them and their daughter Sophie. We met Nic and Erin through Lindsay of Annabelle Lee Events. We spent a beautiful late afternoon with these three in the park and at the beach, along with their super nice friends who came to entertain Sophie while we worked with Nic and Erin. Sophie is a lively, sweet, funny little peanut who I am sure will be a show stealer at their wedding! Nic and Erin were tons of fun – Nic had some pretty funny stuff to say to make Erin and Sophie laugh. They are such a sweet little family and we are so excited for their wedding that is coming so soon. Here are some images from our session with them. We can’t wait to be a part of their big day!!

While we were in Kelowna for Danya and Aaron’s wedding we also spent a whole bunch of time with some great little people and their parents for some family sessions. This session with Pabby, Oriole and their three lovely girlies was special for us as I have the treat of being called Auntie Emmy as these three girls are the best friends of my three little nieces!! We met up with them one morning in late September at park in Kelowna to get some soft morning light in the almost autumn grass. Aaron and I have been digging the low sunlight in meadows look lately. We had such a great time trying to keep up to little Myah who is always on the go, catching sweet Charlotte when she wasn’t too bashful, and listening to Camille who always has the funniest things to say and of course found a little ladybug to take care of. Thanks for a great morning with a beautiful family!! We will have more family posts from our Kelowna sessions soon!

While we were in Kelowna we had the great pleasure of doing a photoshoot with our little friend Ayla at the Gellatly Nut Farm. We hadn’t seen her since her first shoot with us last September and wow has she grown up into a precious little character. If interviewed we are pretty sure her favourite things are her stuffies – especially Sock Monkey, painting her face with flower pollen, rockin’ out in her mini pink converse allstars, and based on facebook some hardcore dress-up sessions. She comes by the tutu and theatrics honestly as her mama runs the Lake Country School of Dance in Lake County, BC. We just let her run around doing her thing as we tried to keep up! Thank-you to Ayla for a very fun session and we can’t wait to see you again!!

These two precious girls really are two little miracles. We did a maternity shoot with our friends Tim and Jody just a couple of days before these girls made their early arrival. A couple of weeks ago we came for a visit to do Lucy and Zoe’s first photoshoot. Two babies at once was a new challenge for us but these girlies loved the camera! Tim and Jody are very lucky we didn’t sneak one into our camera bag for ourselves as you can’t help but immediately love them. They are such a beautiful family and we are so happy for them. A very happy father’s day to their proud papa who now has a lifetime of girly giggles, love, and always coming last in line for the bathroom!!
