We love that living here on the West Coast means that there are some people who have the courage to plan outdoor weddings year round! For those locals reading this you know that this November has been windy, wet, and cold!! Admittedly we were feeling a bit nervous about the weather for Tamara and Adrian’s outdoor ceremony at the beautiful Sooke Harbour House. The morning of the shoot we were checking out our planned locations and the wind nearly blew Emmy over! There were dramatic clouds, swirling winds, and white caps on the water – all the makings for some beautiful images. Luckily Sooke Harbour house is tucked in a little wind free nook and seeking shelter from the wind led us to explore the less travelled areas of the property – like the wood pile! Tamara and Adrian are both very sweet and warm people and that warmth really comes through in the images. The day was filled with so much love. Their intimate wedding with just a few family and friends had such a close and connected feeling about it. There were two young show stealers running about creating sweet scrabble messages and pretending to be the bride’s bodyguards! The evening ended with a very moving piano performance by one of the youngest guests, the family all gathered together around one table with the fire warming the room, and Tamara and Adrian were married! There were many special moments that we were so honoured to witness and here are a few we wanted to share. Congratulations to a very lovely couple!

Jen and Aiden contacted us a few months a go to do their wedding photos and decided to do an engagement session while the fall colours were in full bloom. As they are new to the area we thought we would show them one of our favourite special places on the Saanich Peninsula for the shoot. The temperamental November weather was kind to us and decided not only not to soak us but also gave us some very nice late day light. The maples were golden, the snowberries dotted the forest, and the water in the inlet was like glass. We had such a great time hiking through the forest, stopping at interesting spots, and exploring the old cement factory ruins that it felt more like a hike with friends who let us stop to make photographs of them of along the way. We love these sessions as they are a great way for us to get to know the couple and shoot in a more relaxed setting than the busyness of the wedding day.
We had such a great time that now we really can’t wait for Jen and Aiden’s May Metchosin wedding!

These two precious girls really are two little miracles. We did a maternity shoot with our friends Tim and Jody just a couple of days before these girls made their early arrival. A couple of weeks ago we came for a visit to do Lucy and Zoe’s first photoshoot. Two babies at once was a new challenge for us but these girlies loved the camera! Tim and Jody are very lucky we didn’t sneak one into our camera bag for ourselves as you can’t help but immediately love them. They are such a beautiful family and we are so happy for them. A very happy father’s day to their proud papa who now has a lifetime of girly giggles, love, and always coming last in line for the bathroom!!

My brother Fraser phoned me last saturday and asked if I would like to come out and shoot some photos of him and his crew, Erik van der Pol. This involved me driving around for the afternoon in a 15 foot inflatable with a 75 hp engine on the back. Fun Times! The photos were for a media package and their website. They are campaigning for the 2012 Olympics in London for the 470 Class of sailboats and well on there way with a 1′st at the Nationals last year.

Recently we had the great pleasure of capturing Eileen and Kevin’s big day. They are the last couple to have their ceremony on the deck of The Ward Room at CFB Esquimalt. There is a history of proud service in the family and that was definitely represented in those who attended. We had a great day with Eileen and Kevin; they are a very sweet couple and we wish them all the best! Here are some highlights from their day.
