This summer we have had the treat of shooting a number of weddings away from home. In August we headed out on a two week road trip and right in the middle of it we got to spend a beautifully stormy Okanagan day with Katie and Tyson at Paddle Wheel Park in Vernon BC. When we were scouting locations a few days before the wedding we were a bit worried about the weather because it was so so hot. I fear I have really become an Islander now as I don’t enjoy the searing heat quite as much as I did when I used to live in it! The morning of the wedding we became a bit more concerned about the wind, rain, and potential thunder and lightening than hot sunshine! The weather ended up being perfect as the breeze kept us cool and the skies gave us beautiful cloudy textures and the rain waited until just before the reception. Tyson and Katie found us through his sister Shani who we have had the great pleasure of working with before. It was so much fun to reconnect with Shani and her family and to make new friends in Tyson and Katie. Tyson is really into fly fishing so there were fly hooks in the boutonnieres and a fishing bride cake topper snagging her groom. Tyson and Katie received a lot of help from friends and family as they live in Ontario and planned the wedding from afar. Shani and her friends did a lot of the decorating, which resulted in one of the prettiest ceremony setups that we have seen, and the evening ended with Tyson and Katie dancing to a live trumpet performance by Katie’s brother Dan. Thanks so much to Shani for recommending us for this day and to Tyson and Katie for being so much fun. Here are some of our favourites from the day and all the best wishes to you both!! Oh you can definitely feel the love between these two!! Aaron and Danya said their “I-do’s” on the last hot day of the summer in Kelowna and it was a love fest. You might recognize these two as they were both members of the wedding party of Pam and Dave’s Hot Hot Wedding and these four must be wedding pro’s by now as Pam and Dave returned the favour by standing up with Aaron and Danya on their big day. Danya and Aaron have known each other for years as they grew up together when they were kids. They spent a few years apart, when Aaron moved to Texas, but he made his way back to Kelowna and they found out they liked each other a bit too much to just be friends. It was evident to us that their families, who have long been friends, could not be happier with their new in-laws. This was a great day with many many laughs which started with a groomsmen prank on Aaron, when they produced tux pants many sizes too small, and ended with one of the most entertaining receptions we have ever witnessed. We are sure you two will have much more laughter and love in your future – congrats!!

I LOVE this blog by this super stylish gal, Kat Williams of London UK, who is a lover of all things unique and creative in weddings, called Rock ‘n Roll Bride. I am actually a bit of a web stalker in this case as I sometimes check it more than once a day, sshhhh don’t tell Aaron he thinks I am writing my thesis
. This site is super addictive if you are into creative and modern wedding photography and style. There are so many people out there with such talent and amazing individual style – it is so inspiring – I could go on and on. After shooting Pam and Dave’s Hot Hot Wedding we were thrilled with the shoot and how the images turned out so I sent some of them to Kat. She loved them and posted them on her blog! This is very exciting for me and quite an honour to see our work featured on Rock ‘n Roll Bride. I have pasted her blog entry but if you want to see her full post with images click on her blog logo below to open her site.
Thanks to Kat for promoting so many people’s great ideas, creative vision, and rock’n style!!

Dave & Pam sure let their imagination run wild with their gorgeous wedding at Canada’s Kopje Regional Park. The Bride is particular loves bright colours and so decided to reflect that in their day by organising and designing the whole thing herself. Her dress was by Maggie Sottero and the awesome stripey cake was made by Wedding Cake Creations. For the flowers they relied on the expertise of Art Knapp Plantland & Florists, which meant they got the perfect pink, orange and red (who says they don’t go together!?) flower combo to compliment the rest of the decor.
I love their completely non-boring group shots too! The photographers wanted to find something different and were worried that they might not in such a small town. However when driving one day, the spotted the a mechanic’s garage on the side of the highway and after asking a pretty confused owner permission to use the site they had found their perfect spot. The antiquey sofa and the fun masks add a great finish to the shots and transform them into something that is anything but dull.
Thanks to photographers Emmy & Aaron for sharing this hot damn gorgeous wedding with us!
